COURTING TROUBLE centers around Essie Spreckelmeyer a thirty year-old woman tired of waiting for God to give her a husband. So, she decides to find one of her own. Essie is very unorthodox in her behavior which is her downfall when setting her sights on a man. After losing the man she schemed to hook, she finds herself attracted to a mysterious drifter. Allowing temptation to get the better of her, she soon finds herself once again alone, but this time her behavior could possibly ruin any chance she has of finding a husband.
COURTING TROUBLE is the third book I've read by Deeanne Gist. And though it wasn't my favorite, it was still a good read. I enjoyed the attachment Essie makes with Harley, an orphan that brings out her nurturing side, but I was a bit disappointed with the ending. When you follow a heroine the full length of a book and feel as if she is somehow left wanting, it makes it difficult to put down the book with a satisfying sigh.♥
